Publishing Editor - General Chemistry
I’m now almost nine months into my graduate training year here as a Publishing Editor on the General Chemistry team, and I’m still finding new things popping up in my role.
Yesterday there was an
Editorial Board meeting for
Chemical Science, one of the journals I work on, and our new flagship journal at the RSC. As part of my role as a Publishing Editor on the journal, I am a local contact for some of the Board members who are also Associate Editors on the journal. As such, I joined the lunch for the Board members in order to finally meet them face to face, along with several other members of the publishing team. Normally my work with my Associate Editors involves assessing manuscripts to see if they are in their scientific area and passing appropriate ones on for them to handle the peer review, and being on hand to answer any queries and help out along the way. It’s nice to be able to meet properly with the people I’ve been working with, discuss the papers we’ve worked on and generally learn more about them!
Currently I’m still training in editing, which is going well, and generally being kept busy by manuscripts at all stages of the review and publication process. I’m never at a loss for things to do!
