I am still a little bit concerned. In October I wrote the following:
I am concerned that lots of people I talk to think that there are no jobs in the Chemical Sector. Now I am not saying it’s easy or that you will be able to move without a compromise somewhere. I especially understand that you might be disillusioned with the sector at the moment, particularly if your area is making lots of redundancies; but no jobs? I think I need to look into this on your behalf and find out either way……
So today, thanks to a question we got through the
Careers Forum I have updated my findings, leaving last year's results in brackets.

N.B. I will not be searching by salary or location (as these are often compromises people make) and all data will be gathered today (31st May 2011) for the UK.

LinkedIn are currently hosting
102 jobs for pharmaceuticals,

85 for environmental and
Twitter has at least 2274 jobs in science (400+ in chemistry).
As you can see, on the whole there are more jobs, this may be the time of year, it may be the market but whatever it is I am glad to be able to bring good news to you.
I know that you won’t be suitable for all of these or maybe have exact experience either but remember that you only need to meet 70% of the job criteria to put an application in, and it doesn’t always follow that the more you meet, the more successful you will be in securing the position. Sometimes enthusiasm trumps experience, not always, but it does happen.
I hope that you can see that there are more jobs than perhaps you first thought and that maybe this has given you some options you didn’t know about.
