Communications from across the RSC

GDPR
As most people are now aware the General Data Protection Regulation was introduced on 25 May 2018.
Links to the updated handbook, rules and GDPR guidelines and resources were sent to all Chairs, Secretaries and Treasurers of all of our member networks along with our International Representatives, Early Career Representative and Academic Representatives on Friday 18 May 2018. If you have any queries about GDPR relating to the work of our member networks please refer to the guidelines and if necessary email Networks@rsc.org.

Recognising our volunteers
We have been highlighting the 2018 winners of our Awards for Service and Inspirational Member and Committee Awards both on our website and through our normal social media channels. This year saw an increase in the number of excellent nominations received for these awards which is a testament to the wonderful work of our members.
Full information about the award winners is available in the news section of our website.

Volunteers Week 1-7 June
We would like to encourage you to take this opportunity to thank those around you and acknowledge the time that they give. This could be other members of your committee or you know someone that is involved with outreach events for example. If you use Twitter then please do thank them using #Time4Chem and link to us @RoySocChem, or just say thank you personally to those individuals.
Do you know anyone that is interested in volunteering with us? If you do please direct them to our new volunteering pages.

New members campaign
As part of the new 1st year membership pathway, introduced in March, all new members are sent a communication at 4 weeks of membership that highlights the Interest Groups and encourages new members to subscribe.  This communication is tailored by membership category so is clear as to the number of groups each recipient is able to subscribe.  This has been sent out twice so far and we have seen a good response from new members wanting to taking up groups.
In addition to the new members campaign, we are due to run a campaign to existing members in July.  This will be targeted by category and encourage those who have not subscribed to the number of groups they are able to.  We will expect this to create a good uptake in subscribers to the Interest Groups and raise the awareness of the groups among our members.
