One would expect RSC policy documents to be written more clearly than this. Take point 4.2c for example. What does ‘Assessment is end-of-term and not modular’ mean? Surely if you assess a course every term, then it is a modular course.

I think the RSC should be careful about stepping outside its remit of ‘supporting the chemical sciences’. I have no objection to them supporting biology or physics teachers, but I do feel uncomfortable when it becomes RSC policy ‘for an increased focus on independent learning’ (point 4.2a). Is the RSC’s job to recommend particular learning styles? Similarly, is it appropriate for the RSC to endorse the International Baccalaureate over normal A Levels?
