Local Section Day 2017
The first Local Section Day on 14 October was a great success. With over 30 Local Section committees from the UK and Ireland represented we celebrated the volume and diversity of activities run by our Local Section volunteers, discussed ways to enhance their support of our wider membership and had some vibrant discussions where the members shared their experiences. We also celebrated those Local Section members who had won awards this year for their activities over lunch.

Interest Group Forum 2017
The inaugural Interest Group Forum which is the annual governance meeting for all of our Interest Groups took place on 26 October. With over 40 committees represented they heard about our governance review, the changes to data protection regulation and the new member benefits packages. We spent time forging new collaborations between groups and sharing experiences regarding social media, organising events, webinars and engaging members in the early stages of their careers. We very much enjoyed the day and had excellent feedback from members attending.

Periodic table
We are pleased to announce that, as a direct result of feedback from committee members, periodic tables are now available on the brand centre.

Chemistry events research
Some recipients may have received a separate message last week promoting the Royal Society of Chemistry events survey; please accept our apologies if you are reading this for the second time.

To develop and improve what we offer, we would like to find out more about your experiences of the events and conferences we run for the global chemistry community. Please give us ten minutes of your time to tell us about the type of events you currently attend, and about the types of events you would like to see from the Royal Society of Chemistry in the future.

The survey is part of the market research and community engagement activity that supports the 2017 - 2021 Royal Society of Chemistry Events Strategy Project. The project aims to deliver an effective and sustainable programme of community-focused conferences and events based on the needs of our members and the wider chemical sciences community.

Take the survey
This survey is being run on behalf of the Royal Society of Chemistry by our research partner, Insightful Marketing & Research.
Thank you in advance for your feedback.
