Regional Meetings 2018
The Regional Meetings 2018 will be held in February and March. Venues are still subject to confirmation but once we have received confirmation the meetings will be on the events database and registration information will be circulated to all members in the UK and Ireland.

Please be aware that from this year we are refocussing the purpose of these meetings to be a networking opportunity for all members of the Royal Society of Chemistry in the vicinity who wish to attend. We will still be having a presentation from a member of the Leadership Team outlining our activities and strategy.

There will be an opportunity to meet with staff if you have any committee specific business to discuss but this will not be in a public forum. Please remember that you can contact us at any time for support simply by emailing networks@rsc.org. As committee members, unless you are attending a Regional Steering Group meeting on the same day, we will be inviting you to attend the meeting which is geographically closest to you. Registration for other meetings is welcomed if you happen to be in the area and would like to attend.
  • London Regional Meeting, Burlington House, 21 February 2018
  • Ireland Regional Meeting, Belfast, 28 February 2018
  • Wales Regional Meeting, Cardiff, 5 March 2018

Brand Centre
We are planning to further develop brand centre and will be reviewing the current templates in early 2018. If there are things which you routinely want which aren’t provided currently please do let us know by emailing caps@rsc.org.

Following a number of enquires we would like to clarify the following:
  • Brand centre credit can only be used for the editable items and promotional items available on the brand centre.
  • Any bespoke design requests for materials should be paid for from the funds held by the committee.
  • Justdigital are happy to support our networks by producing bespoke materials at the same discounted prices negotiated by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
  • Any enquires about your brand centre credit should be sent to networks@rsc.org.
  • Any technical or delivery enquiries should be sent directly to rscbrandcentre@justdigitaluk.com.

Interest Groups top up funding
All Interest Groups can apply for top up funding to help them run events, provide travel for speakers and other adhoc activities. The top up fund is non-competitive and all applications will be sent to Member Networks Committee for discussion at the May committee meeting. The Networks team will inform the secretary of the Interest Group of the outcome. For funding in 2018 the deadline for applications is Tuesday, 3 April and for funding in 2019 the deadline is Tuesday, 18 September. For more information or an application form, please contact Nic Bygrave networks@rsc.org.

Mythbusting
Did you know?
The Yule Log was originally an entire tree that was carefully chosen and brought into the house with great ceremony and burned over the 12 days of Christmas. A Chocolate Yule Log or 'bûche de Noël' is now a popular Christmas desert, made of a chocolate sponge roll layered with cream.
