Communications from across the RSC
New Rules for Member Networks and Networks Handbook
An email notification has been sent to all members of our member networks committees highlighting the new rules for member networks and associated guidance notes and the new networks handbook. Both documents can be found
here and all of the useful forms and documents for committee are available
here.
The handbook is regularly updated and therefore is not designed to be printed out and kept in hard copy. Updates will be noted in the
Networks Newsletter when available and we hope that these will include advice and guidance from our internal specialist teams. If you have any questions please email
Fiona McMillan.
The new rules come into effect on 1 January 2018.
Local to You Career Consultations – Spring 2018
New year, new job? Start 2018 by speaking with one of our Career Specialists about your professional development, becoming a Chartered Chemist, for CV advice or anything career related. During Spring 2018, the team will be visiting Oxford, Reading, Lancaster, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Derby. Find out more and book
here.
Analytical Science Training in Africa 2018
Our partnership with GSK to provide analytical science training will be ongoing throughout 2018, with lots of opportunities for African researchers to apply to attend our GCMS and LCMS courses. All the courses will be listed
here.
Interest Groups top up funding
All Interest Groups can apply for top up funding to help them run events, provide travel for speakers and other adhoc activities. The top up fund is non-competitive and all applications will be sent to Member Networks Committee for discussion at the May committee meeting. The Networks team will inform the secretary of the Interest Group of the outcome. For funding in 2018 the deadline for applications is
Tuesday, 3 April and for funding in 2019 the deadline is
Tuesday, 18 September. For more information or an
application form, please contact Nic Bygrave at
networks@rsc.org.
Annual Reports 2017
The annual report form is available
here. We have updated the form following feedback from members so please do not use last year’s form.
Regional Meetings 2018
As highlighted in the December newsletter we have changed the purpose of these meetings to be a networking opportunity for all members of the Royal Society of Chemistry in the vicinity who wish to attend. We will still be having a presentation from a member of the Leadership Team outlining our activities and strategy. Invitations will be sent to all members in the UK and Ireland and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
There will be an opportunity to meet with staff if you have any committee specific business to discuss but this will not be in a public forum. Please remember that you can contact us at any time for support simply by emailing networks@rsc.org. As committee members, unless you are attending a Regional Steering Group meeting on the same day, we will be inviting you to attend the meeting which is geographically closest to you. Registration for other meetings is welcomed if you happen to be in the area and would like to attend.
