The only things I know about Shropshire is the infirmary in the centre of Shrewsbury . The Royal Salop Infirmary ( now saint Marys shopping centre) was founded by Lord Forester, either he or his brother died in a plane crash. This always struck me as similar to Robert Redford's cháracter in Out of Africa. Chemistry may be a "new" town , built by a benefactor like Robert Owen for coal or perhaps saltpetre KNO3 or some other mine. Truth is I don't know, you could google it
