Burning lycopodium powder in air

Lycopodium powder is an extremely fine powder with a very large surface area. When dispersed in air, it can suddenly burst into flames if a naked flame or spark is produced. The danger of igniting fine powders and dust in enclosed places is clearly observed when the lid is blown off. Grain silo elevator explosions are known to occur regularly.
