There are only 17 days to go until Christmas Day 2010....and the Christmas parties are beginning to get into full swing. Fortunately I am one of those people who love Christmas and all the things that come with it and so am embracing this fully. It's not just because I like to party either....Christmas parties are a good time to network.

Morning all, I was online with The Guardian Careers team between 1pm and 4pm  (7th Dec) to talk about what you can do with a degree in Chemistry.

Not all chemistry graduates go on to a career in the laboratory. The aim was to allow people to find out more about the wide range of career opportunities available.

Chemistry and food go hand in hand – you take a bunch of ingredients, mix them up and get something out at the other end. Sometimes it works perfectly and you get exactly what you want; sometimes you get blue soup!

I am giving a couple of talks on professionalism and thought I would do some more research.
 
Firstly, what is professionalism? Well is seems there are many different definitions.
 
The Oxford English Dictionary defines it as:
 
“The competence or skill expected of a professional: the key to quality and efficiency is professionalism

Morning all. ChemCareers is over for this year and what a success it was! We had over 2,400 visitors to the MyRSC site over the week and lots of you interacted with us. Now it's back to the real world and I need to start blogging again.

Today I thought I might focus on applications and interviews, especially as our grad scheme will soon be opening it's doors again.....
