The Discovery of Sodium Cromoglycate by Dr Roger Altounyan (1968). This turned out to be a major blockbuster drug for Fisons Pharmaceuticals for the prophylaxis of asthma with hundreds of thousands of lives saved.

I had the privilege of working on Dr Roger Altounyan's Asthma project, synthesizing Chromone analogues at Fisons Pharma, Cheshire, in the mid-late 1960s.
